I have a friend who's in a fair bit of financial trouble...

Rather than give her the sympathy vote I'll get straight to it.

She's running commissions to try and make the money back up.

If you could spare some money then would you commission her for at least a sketch?

She really does need it. You'll find the details on her account.

To all those who read this message,

I figured it was high time i started thanking the people who have done stuff for me lately. I've never really shown much appreciation to many people directly so i figured i say what i thought after all this time

- First artist i ever commissioned and is more or less responsible for making my story Long Road Home come to life. She is responsible for the big poster i have on my wall of John and Maisie. She has introduced me to so many people and i wonder where i would be right now without her. I respect her opinion so much and she's still a big influence on me. Owe you loads Gemma Thanks

- First introduced to me by , when she couldn't really carry on working on Long Road Home i got introduced to this little legend. The artist for the first drawn chapter (it'll come when it comes ) and he has made so many character designs for me already, when i was starting out i relied on him so heavily. Still do now man thanks

- First met on the one manga forums, she was doing designs for a fellow writer there and i thought she was great so i requested her as well. A few funny/strange conversations later and now we're buddies and co-workers (once her coursework is done ). Just wait, soon we'll be smashing it in whsmiths with our top selling childrens book . We'll dominate the reading world damn it muhahaha. I can't wait, thanks for agreeing to work on everything i've suggested to. You're totally the right person for it all

- Found this guy right here on DA and he is one of the best people i could ever have found. He is the mastermind of the sneaky little A4 poster of a certain assassin named marco and he wouldn't even be what he is today without you man. Still doing work for me despite being overworked. You're an utter legend mate, even when these commissions are done i probably will still come back for more (once you've got more time of course ). Thanks so much for the stuff you have done man.

- I wanted to take a look at animation and figured it would make a nice addition to my website and such. A lot of people requested to do some animated work for me but this girl is top of the lot. Amazing artist and still made it financially viable for me to commission her. Looking forward to seeing what you make i know it'll be good Thanks so much

There are probably lots of others who i'm missing but there are just so many to name and these guys i have named are so influential to me.  I don't need to look for others anymore, i have winners right here . I owe you all loads and thanks so much for everything.

John and Maisie were searching for a place to eat but no-one wanted to let them in. They decided to sit on a nearby bench to think when a sweet voice was suddenly heard.

“John is that you?” asked by the sweet voice.

The two turned their heads on the voice's direction and they see a beautiful lady. She was about John's age and had long black hair. She was standing in front of them with a shocked expression on her face.

John immediately had an idea of who it was

"Is that you? Sophie!?” he exclaimed in surprise

Sophie was pleased to realise it was him and suddenly hugged John

“I’m so glad you are ok” she said as she tears a little

John was kind of surprised on what Sophie just did.

“Hey! Hey! What’s wrong?” he asked not knowing what to do.

“What’s wrong?!” she exclaimed at him “You’ve been gone for a week! ...leaving only this note!!!” she paused as she shows a piece of paper. 'I have a very important thing to do. I'll be back soon. -John-' was written into it.

“I was really worried that something bad had happened to you” she said to him as she moves her face closer to him.

She then looked away from him and a sudden silence filled the place...

“Uhm... W-what exactly have you been doing all this time?” she suddenly asked

Before he explained she turned towards the girl that was leaning on him. This was the first time she noticed her.

“Who is this cute girl?” she bent down and then smiled at maisie

“Erm… well… how do I explain” he laughs nervously “well… this little girl is maisie” he said

“Hello” she smiles and waves shyly

“Hello” she smiles back and then she turns back to John “but who is she?” she asks again

“Well… she’s the answer to your first question” he says with another nervous laugh

Sophie was annoyed “Stop giving vague answers and explain!” she shouted

“She's the reason I’ve been away” He says seriously “I’ve been looking after her” he explained

He then went to explain about how he met her and what he knew about her. Sophie was listening seriously and at the end of the story she finally spoke.

“I’ve known you for a long time and honestly, this is something I would expect from you” She said

John was taken aback. He thought she would question his decision like anyone else would

“Well is it a good or a bad thing” he asked

“It’s a good thing” she said “I know what you are thinking” she said and looked at Maisie and patted her head before turning back to John “You couldn’t leave her alone could you?” she smiled

John just paused with a surprised face “How did you know?” he asked.

“I know because she looked like you did when I met you..." she said as she remembers the day she met John.”...and your situations are a little similar by the sound of it. I wish you had told me though.” she said to him with a sad look on her face.

There was a pause and then maisie spoke

“John who is she?” she asked

“Oh” he said in surprise “Sorry Maisie, this is Sophie, she’s my childhood friend and she lives next door to where I live”

“Ohhhh!” she said and she seems to understand. Then her belly rumbled “John, I’m still hungry...”

The conversation with Sophie had taken his mind off the fact that they were looking for places to eat. Before he could respond Sophie spoke.

“You won’t find much around here” she explained “but if you like we can share my lunch” she smiled at Maisie.

“Is that ok?” John asked

“It is for maisie but I’m still mad at you” she said. John went gloomy. “But maybe Maisie will share it with you” she said.

John turned to maisie and gave her a puppy dog look “Would you share with me please maisie” he asked sincerely

“Okay I’ll share” she said with her arms folded pretending to be an adult.

John hugged Maisie “Oh Thank you maisie! I knew you would look after me!” he said happily. Maisie was giggling and he was playing around hugging her.

“You’re really nice aren’t you Maisie” Sophie said to her.

“Yep” Maisie nodded in confirmation.

They finished eating and they were lying on the grass. Sophie and Maisie were cuddled up on either side of John.

“Remember we used to lie like this when we were younger?” Sophie said to him

“Yep, we would look at the clouds and try to guess the shapes” he answered. He then pointed up to the sky “See, that one looks like your teddy bear maisie” he said to her

“Ooooh” she said in awe

“Let me try” she searching hard but couldn’t make much out but then stopped and pointed up

“That one looks like you!” she said in surprise.

“Huh, where?” he asked looking around quickly

“Oh I see it!” Sophie exclaimed “It even has your silly hair” she said ruffling John's hair.

“Where is it?” he asked again “Hey! Stop teasing me!” he said sounding desperate but really he was just playing along. Maisie and Sophie started giggling

“Oh look maisie now he has an afro!” Sophie said pointing

“Ohhh where is it? I want to see that!” he exclaimed

The giggling was now laughter and the laughter filled the sky

It was evening and they had walked back to the tent.

“Thanks for today” John said to Sophie "I really appreciate your help."

“No problem it was fun, really...” she said and then paused “...I was really glad to see you” she said finally

Maisie then spoke “can we play again tomorrow?”

“I plan to...” Sophie smiles at her

“What will we play?” Maisie asked

“Girl things” Sophie says still smiling

“Girl things?” both John and maisie say at the same time

“Is it fun?” Maisie asks

“It’s very fun!” Sophie says still smiling

“Okay!” Maisie smiles happily

“What are you planning?” John asks her while smiling. He’s giving her a suspicious look but it’s more playful than mean.

“You will see tomorrow...” She said winking at him.

She then walks away while waving...

It has been a week since John decided to take care of Maisie. He still goes to college when he needs to and stays with maisie after it. The police will keep an eye on her whenever he is not around. Everything seems to be alright, however...

It started the first day he stayed with her at her tent...

John wakes up with Maisie sleeping next to him. He checks the time and sees that they woke up pretty late.

"Come on Maisie, Wake up!" He said as he shrugs Maisie.

She lets out a yawn and decided to wake up.

"Morning..." She said as she brushes her eyes.

"Look at the time, We need to get something to eat..." He said to her.

She was quite surprised. She then gets up and looks outside the tent. John followed her.

"What are you looking for?"

The little girl points the nearby cafe. "They bring me food." She said.

"Oh really?" Poor kid, he said on the back of his mind. "Well, let's go there and I'll buy whatever you like" He said as he smiles at her.

She seems to be happy on what he had said. She gets up quickly and starts to tug John's shirt.

"Let's go, let's go!" she said eagerly

John then picks her up and the two walks over the cafe.

As they approach the cafe. They saw the owner standing in the front door of the cafe.

"Oh! I can't let you in!" He said as they came near at him.

"Why?" john questioned

The owner of the café looks down at maisie

"Well her… she isn't good for business" he said sadly, he felt awful but he couldn't help it.

Looks like they don't really like her, John thinks. "Oh! Come on, We'll just have something to eat then we'll leave." He said to the owner.

"I really can't let you in." He said looking at John.

John had only just woken up and frankly couldn't be bothered arguing with the old man. "Okay Maisie, let's go find another place."

Maisie looks really disappointed. John decided to buy some instant noodles for them to share with.

It's been a week since that incident and John see that it's not really healthy for Maisie to eat it every day. He's not good in cooking really for his neighbours usually cook for him. That day he decided to find a place to eat.

They are now in the city not far from the street where they sleep. John then figured out that there would be a lot of places they could eat there. To his surprise there weren't many, they must have been searching for around an hour when they eventually spotted a cafe. The immediately entered that one.

John sits Maisie down at a table.

"I'll go and order us something so you should be good and here okay?"

She nods in response.

John now goes to order and Maisie just sits there waiting at their table. She then noticed a man looking at her.

"Hello" She then waves on that man and smiles sweetly

However the man snarls and turns around. Maisie didn't really care. She shrugged her shoulders and just put her arm down.

She starts getting restless while waiting and starts playing with the things on the table. She picks up a bottle of ketchup and starts shaking it quickly. She doesn't notice the cap is loose and it comes off. The ketchup flies across the table and all over the back of the man and his hair. She is surprised and worried, she quickly runs up to him with a tissue.

"Sorry!" She said

She goes to wipe his hair when suddenly she pulls his hair off. The man was wearing a wig! But Maisie didn't understand what had just happened and became more worried.

"John! John!" She began to run to John shouting.

"What's wrong?" He shouts back as he sees the worried face of Maisie.

She was almost out of breath as she was near John. "I pulled the man's hair off" She said as she points the man.

John does his best not to laugh after seeing the bald man, as does the waitress behind him. The man was fuming, he was incredibly insulted and embarrassed. He goes to maisie and snatches his hair back and runs off to save further embarrassment. John walks up to maisie.

"Maisie that was naughty" He said, trying his best to be serious and scold her, despite the fact he was still smirking.

Maisie just put her head down being sorry of what she had done but she was giggling too.

The waitress then walks up to John.

"I think it's best if you leave before the manger comes or you'll get in trouble." She said.

"Oh! Thank you very much and sorry for the trouble..."

John then picks up Maisie and hurriedly leaves the cafe.

"Bye bye!" Maisie waves to the waitress as they leave.

The waitress smiles and waves back. They leave the shop.

They continue to walk around the city but most of the city has stopped serving breakfast as it was nearly lunch time.

They sat down on a bench. They both sigh at the same time and then their bellies rumble at the same time. Maisie leans on john.

"I'm hungry" She said pouting her lips.

"So am I" He replied

A girl walks up to John, she looks the same age as him

"John is that you?"
